About the Artist

Tesfaye Negusse, a highly acclaimed Ethiopian artist, was born in Wonji, East Shoa, Ethiopia. He pursued his passion for art at Addis Ababa University Ale School of Fine Arts and Design, where he earned a diploma in Fine Arts in 1998.

With a career spanning ten years, Tesfaye has established a remarkable reputation in the art world. He has exhibited in over 24 solo exhibitions and 46 group exhibitions across Ethiopia, Europe, and the United States. His work is recognized locally and internationally, making him one of Ethiopia’s most distinguished contemporary artists.


Tesfaye’s artworks are housed in numerous prestigious collections, including the National Museum of Contemporary Ethiopian Art and the Addis Ababa Museum. His pieces have also been displayed at institutions such as the Alem Gallery, Alliance Ethio-France, the Russian Cultural Center, and the Economy Commission of Africa (ECA). His influence extends beyond Ethiopia, with exhibitions at the Pacific Art Center in Los Angeles, the Anka Huma Gallery in Belgium, Bulgaria and Ireland Embassies, the New York City Expo (2004), and the Vermont Studio Center in Burlington.


In the U.S., Tesfaye’s work has been featured at the Southern University Museum of Art in Louisiana, Hanazeb Ethiopian Art Gallery and Atlanta Art Center in Georgia, Clarkston Community Center, Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C., and Lisa Art Gallery in New Orleans. He has also contributed significantly to Ethiopian community spaces, including exhibitions at Ethiopian community centers in Seattle and Atlanta.


His recent exhibitions include the Addis Ababa Museum (Adwa #2, 2021), the Atlanta Ethiopian Community Adwa series (2022-2024), The Shopper-Snellville (2023-2024), and Marriott Marquis Atlanta (2024). Tesfaye Negusse continues to inspire through his artistic mastery and preserve Ethiopian culture and history globally.
